Codes, accounts and permissions.
Battery alerts and approved access.
A keypad may allow code-based entry without the remote features of a connected product. App access, account permissions and network requirements vary by model. Begin with the functions you actually want: easier household entry, controlled guest access or a different way to manage everyday keys. Confirm the product’s capabilities rather than assuming every smart lock offers the same features.
Door thickness, existing preparation, trim and bolt alignment affect installation. A product with advanced features still needs a door that closes and locks properly. Mention any existing resistance or fit problem. Have the exact model details ready so installation support and suitability can be discussed before you buy.
Consider who will manage the product, who needs access and how that access will be removed later. A physical-key change does not necessarily revoke a code or account permission. Use the manufacturer’s instructions for managing credentials and keep sensitive access details private. For shared premises, establish the responsible owner or property team.
Ask about battery alerts, power requirements and the manufacturer’s permitted backup method. Different models handle these differently. Do not assume remote features will be available during every network or power interruption. Keep the product instructions and discuss an appropriate access plan for the people who use the door.
Specify whether you want help selecting suitable hardware, fitting a purchased product or understanding a problem with an existing installation. Support is model-dependent. Agree on the work, estimate and availability for the address before arranging a visit.
No. Connectivity and remote features depend on the particular product and its requirements.
No universal fit is promised. Check door preparation, clearances, operation and the model’s specifications first.
